If you are around the DC area on February 13th, feel free to join the Capitol Creativity Network gathering. Phil Nimtz, President of Equinox Coaching, will be presenting a workshop entitled Creative Group Dynamics: A Systems Approach:
Whether it is a business, family, school or community, the same interpersonal issues always seem to arise. Traditional explanations for these 'issues' operate at the personal level ("they" are incompetent, unmotivated, unwilling, unskilled, etc.) and therefore our solutions are also personal (fix, fire, rotate or restructure "them" or the organization). Unfortunately, these changes rarely resolve the issues permanently.
In contrast, the basic premise of this workshop is that the vast majority of these 'issues' are not personal at all - they are natural (almost unavoidable) outcomes of the way our systems are structured - the environmental conditions these structures create and our lack of awareness of the impact of these conditions. Come explore a new perspective that transcends the "us and them" mentality and challenges us to creatively take responsibility for the entire system, as well as our part within in it.
In this interactive session we'll explore and experience:
~ The unseen 'environmental spaces' we call Top, Middle, Bottom and Customer
~ The behavior encouraged by these environments
~ The valuable distinction between personal/psychological and systems/environmental explanations
~ How these different groups impact each other
Participants will leave with:
~ Insight into the hidden dynamics that drive what happens
~ New language and perspectives for observing, discussing and managing team and interpersonal interactions
~ Tools to manage your team or organization more creatively
~ A direction to head in order to truly transform organizational life
